After spending a few years of teaching computers to pre-5th grade students, I've been moved back into the classroom teaching 1st grade due to budget cuts. While teaching in the classroom isn't new to me; I've taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, teaching 1st grade is very new to me. I haven't dealt with phonics on this level since my undergrad days of volunteering. I thank God for blogs like http://extraspecialteaching.blogspot.com/ which has a wealth of resources that will help me. Taking her lead, I'm going to go ahead and share whatever I create on this blog. The whole group aspect of this new position isn't the challenge, it's the small group instruction. Having to create all of these activities for each letter sound is another full time job. I might also put out some questions for help too. Thank you for whatever help anyone may give me here!
